How to Maintain Your Truck’s Exterior

The image of a pick-up truck doesn’t always evoke luxury, but that doesn’t mean you can’t keep it looking it’s best. The elements take their toll on truck exteriors over time, but here are three ways you can keep them looking great.

Get Regular Washes and Waxes

That will preserve the pigment, not to mention aspects of the interior like the dashboard that the sun can damage. Car washes offer wax treatments, but it’s good to hand-wax your truck once a year to make sure it gets fully coated. Hand-waxing is one of the best ways to preserve the clear coat.

Accessorize

There are several ways you can spruce up your truck’s exterior aftermarket. Putting a bed-liner in is an excellent first step because that’s where your paint job will see the most wear. If you carry tools, consider installing a locking toolbox or even a hardtop if you think you’re at risk for theft. For off-roading, install a lift kit for the best performance. Chrome mirrors, bumpers, running boards, and other details can add to the look of your truck. There are also many options for lighting that are both useful and decorative.

Park Wisely

People take precautions when they’re driving, as they should, but tend to neglect the threats while you are parked. When automobiles leave the dealership, they have excellent color and shine. Try not to park under the sun where UV rays can cause the pigment and shine to dull and fade. Avoid parking under trees where bird droppings and tree sap can fall. Lastly, when parking in a lot, choose a space further from the door so other car doors or shopping carts cant ding your vehicle.

Trucks typically have quality engines and long lifespans. Take care of your truck’s exterior every day so it will stay looking good throughout its life.
